Mind Body Movement came about from a dream and a kick in the ass!
It was the universe telling me to get off my bum, stop dragging my feet and really go for what I wanted in life - running my own Yoga & Pilates Studio!
AMY L. GREEN
STUDIO DIRECTOR & LEAD TEACHER

Amy has been studying, practicing and teaching yoga since 2000. Throughout her years of personal practice and teaching experience, she's gained invaluable tools to help people like you find your way into yoga poses and out of your head. In 2014 Amy had a back injury that led her to do some rehab work on the Pilates Reformer machine and after experiencing a dramatic improvement, completed the STOTT PILATES Reformer training in 2015.
Her teaching style emphasises building a safe and sustainable yoga practice to help heal the body and improve posture. Once your body starts to feel better, it's easier for you to observe the mind and find out what's behind all that mind chatter--relieving stress/anxiety and letting go of the old that's no longer serving you. Amy has a special knack for guiding you through your fear, your comfort zone, and your "story" to help you tap into the connection with ALL THAT IS and find your true inner strength--allowing you to re-connect with what's really important in your life.
Amy's classes blend stretching, strengthening and stabilisation exercises, pushing you to your edge, while giving options so that EVERY BODY can find the "sweet spot" in each pose. Using her background in Pilates and Foundation Training (postural improvement programme) her focus is on enhancing the natural range of motion for sustainable, functional movement.
Amy also assists with yoga teacher trainings and facilitates yoga retreats (in New Zealand and abroad).

Being passionate about natural health and well-being, Katie became a Qualified Massage Therapist 7 years ago, and in 2015 Katie started her own natural health business (Garden of Eden). Always having an interest in the fitness industry and seeing the awesome results that Pilates can have for injury rehabilitation and general well-being, Katie became a Qualified Mat Instructor with Studio Pilates while living in Melbourne and taking Pilates classes and one-on-one with clients while working at a luxury Health Club. Katie is now also a Qualified Pilates Reformer Instructor.
After recently returning home to the Eastern Bay of Plenty from an overseas adventure, Katie looks forward to connecting with the Mind Body Movement community in Whakatane and offering her unique style.

ELLIE GRACE HARB
Joining us in 2018 as our new International Yoga Teacher!
Elli is an international yoga and meditation teacher and has been a practicing yogi since 2007. Growing up in Santa Barbara, California, she was introduced to yoga by her mom in 2007, who sent her to a yoga class the moment Elli started showing signs of adolescence. A lifelong student, Elli completed her 200-hour teacher training in Ubud, Bali, where she studied Vinyasa and Ashtanga yoga, and went on to teach Ashtanga-inspired Vinyasa flow yoga in the San Francisco Bay Area. She also apprenticed with a women’s meditation group in Berkeley, California. Afterwards, she designed and taught a meditation course for university students at the University of California, Berkeley. In June 2017, she went to live at a retreat center in Siem Reap, Cambodia, where she taught yoga and meditation while deepening her own mindfulness practice.
Elli is a passionate student of Sanskrit, integral yoga, and international history. She believes that yoga is not simply about twisting the body on a plastic mat, but transforming the way we relate to our bodies, our minds, and the world around us. She is over the moon to be joining the yoga community in Whakatane, and fulfilling her lifelong dream of living in New Zealand.
Yoga Nidra Facilitator

Nancy Towersey is a Chef Lecturer, mindfulness advocate and fill-in yoga teacher. After 15 years of crazy, fun, fast-paced life as a chef, she started to become aware of her work/life imbalance. It was at that time Nancy decided to give yoga a try and has not stopped since. After moving to New Zealand 5 years ago she was introduced to Yoga Nidra. This introduction has turned into a great study and also a daily practice.
500 hr Ashram Yoga Teacher, Registered Naturopath & Herbalist
Josee completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with Ashram Yoga in 2006 and her 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training with Ashram Yoga in 2011.
Josee is registered as a Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance and with Yoga New Zealand. In 2013 Swami Shantimurti Saraswati initiated Josee as a Sanyasin in the Saraswati lineage and her yogic name is Swami Manishananda Saraswati. Since then Josee has been teaching Anatomy & Physiology and Introduction to Ayurveda to Yoga teachers in training at Ashram Yoga at their residential retreat in the Coromandel. In 2017 Josee joined Amy and her team at Mind Body Movement where she now teaches Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga and Meditation. Josee enjoys sharing about the miracle of the human body and she brings to this 17-years of professional experience as a Naturopath & Herbalist, with a Masters Degree in Holistic Science. Josee is super excited to be doing more training as yoga teacher in 2018, in the area of i-Rest Yoga Nidra and Somatics & Mindfulness. She very much looks forward to sharing Yoga with you at Mind Body Movement. Namaste.
