Intro to Partner Yoga / AcroYoga

Come and explore what happens when you allow your yoga practice to expand.
To become more than just a body twisting on a rectangular mat.
Yoga is always about relationships, about forging connections.
At times, that connection is between the body and the breath--the relationship you have with yourself.
But yoga can also radically transform the way we relate to each other, and the way we interact.
This 90-minute class will be an easygoing, lighthearted exploration of physical movement and connection--finding new ways to stretch the body and make it feel good.
Think partner stretching, dynamic movement, and restorative postures that help you relax.
Then, we will learn the basics of basing and flying or AcroYoga. No experience necessary!
Special Meditation Event
Join us for a special meditation event centered around Goddess Lakshmi (the Hindu Goddess of WEALTH, ABUNDANCE & PROSPERITY)!
If you could do with a bit of that, then this guided meditation is for YOU. Journey with awareness through this abundance manifesting experience under the loving guidance of an experienced teacher.
No meditation experience is required. Please bring your yoga mat (if you have one) and any special blankets or pillows to get yourself comfortable; otherwise, everything else is provided at the studio.

Asana Lab: Shoulderstand
WELCOME TO THE LABORATORY...
This is a once a month workshop at Mind Body Movement in Whakatane focusing on a particular pose (or group of poses).
This month we will experiment with SHOULDERSTAND (Sarvangasana).
This 90-minute class will give us the opportunity to do an appropriate warm-up and break down to an accessible level, exploring variations and possible use of props.
Since some of the poses we'll cover in the lab are more challenging and require more development and instruction (i.e., not the general poses we tend to do in an average class), this is your chance to ask questions and work on getting to the next level in your practice in a safe and sustainable way.
This is a great option for those that already have some yoga expereince--not for complete beginners.
